True Blue - *Unofficial* (***Version 4!***)

Blue Interview 19th June 2001
How did it feel to do your first live webcast? Were you nervous?
Antony: It was wicked because it was live and happening as we spoke. I like them and I want to do more of them.
Duncan: Yeah I enjoyed it, it was wicked!
What have you been up to recently?
Duncan: We've been really busy promoting the single and now that's sort of stopped, we've been doing loads of gigs.
Lee: And some in-store signings that were really interesting!
Lee, what did you do for your 18th birthday?
Lee: We went to a few bars...
Duncan: And had a bit of a boogie!
Antony: We went with a few mates.
You recently entered the charts at Number 4, how does it feel to be fully-fledged popstars?
Duncan: It's wicked!
Simon: It wasn't as bad as I thought because obviously when you read stuff in the papers, you think popstars don't get on, but you soon find out that it's just not true.
What was it like playing in the Soccer 6 Tournament?
Simon: We were the worst team there! (Laughter)
Lee: It's not funny you know!
Antony: We didn't have enough players! We had John Fashanu on our team because he came down by chance and said "I'll play for you", and then the goalkeeper turned up till 2 hours late so we didn't have a goalkeeper.
Who was supposed to be your goalkeeper?
Simon: Chris Eubank was supposed to be our goalkeeper but he didn't want to get dirty!
Duncan: And we had Dean Gaffney from Eastenders on our team.
Antony: Yeah he was cool.
Simon: And Brian Harvey was supposed to be on our team and he didn't show up, but we had a good time.
Was there anyone there you wanted to meet?
Simon: We met Rod Stewart.
You've been to quite a few cities outside of the UK but which has been your favourite place?
Simon: Oslo, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Paris...
You've just done a show at G.A.Y which we heard went down a storm with Melanie B. Was it different to performing in front of hundreds of guys as oppose to hundreds of girls?
Lee: Yeah but it was good to see the crowd enjoying themselves.
Duncan: It was really good to be supporting Mel B and also have that kind of experience. We got to meet her as well because we hadn't met her before.
Antony: She said hello and was really friendly.
Did you think "All Rise" would be as big as it was because it's was in the top ten for several weeks?
All: No.
Duncan: It feels amazing because it spent 5 weeks in the top ten.
Simon: It's definitely a team effort. There are loads of people behind the scenes such as all the people at our record company. And not forgetting the fans - they were the ones who went out and bought the single.
What would you say has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
Simon: Top Of The Pops!
Duncan: That was a big event for us because we've dreamt of doing it since we were kids. We were very nervous when we performed and it showed...but next time, we're not going to be!
Antony: And also, getting to number 4 because that was weird. In the Top Ten countdown, you had Geri Halliwell, S Club 7, Dido and Radiohead and then Blue with "All Rise"!
Lee: Well, we thought it was going to go in at number 5 the day before so when it got to number 5, we were like, 'Where have we gone?!' and then we were at number 4 so it was alright!
How would you spend your ideal summer?
Lee: Well over 6 weeks, I'd spend 3 weeks on holiday and then another 3 weeks recovering!
Antony: I'd go to Cyprus to see my family and my mates.
Duncan: I'd like to go out to Australia for 6 months - I wouldn't mind doing that!
